Baden-Powell in Aarhus
Baden-Powell's ideas caught on in Denmark in 1909. As early as 1911, it started in Aarhus, and it has been there ever since. The Scout Museum has existed for more than 25 years and has therefore been able to collect a significant amount of material that illuminates the scout work in the East Jutland area. For those interested in reading, the museum also has a collection of scout magazines and literature. Outside you will find an area with the possibility of scout activities.
For all scout colors
The museum is for all the major corps in the area whether the color is yellow, green or blue. There is material about the Danish Scout Corps, about the YMCA Scouts, about the Green Girl Scouts and about the now defunct Danish Girl Scout Corps. There is camp equipment from 'old' days and material about experiences that are common to the corps like the big jamborees and camps. The first international Danish camp was held in the Aarhus area in 1913.
Once a scout, always a scout
And then there are those who can never stop being scouts. Many continue in the corps or in Sct. Georgs Gilderne, which is also part of the Scout Museum. In fact, the museum possesses one of the most significant collections of Sct. Georg effects on the dragon slayer, which Baden-Powell made a role model for scouts from all over the world. And as a guest you will usually be received by one of these old scouts.
Recycling of the scouts
The Scout Museum has a second-hand shop of 200 square meters, where you can go exploring for good second-hand finds. The profits go to the Scout Museum, which is run by volunteers.
