The Greenhouses in the Botanical Garden
Distance: 9.72 Km
Under the greenhouses' enormous dome, you can go exploring for instructive stories about plants and flowers and get an insight into how we humans influence and use nature like never before.
Get under distant skies for a day
In the tropical house, you are greeted by oppressively humid heat, fluttering butterflies and lifelike animal sounds. Here, you feel like you have been transported to more distant skies. Under the huge dome, you can sneak around on narrow paths, and almost get lost among the big trees and wild plants.
But be careful where you walk! Some of the plants are carnivorous. If you are brave, you can get all the way up to the top of the tree and see the many, many meters down on trees, plants and flowers below your feet.
The little guy 'Spire Ib' helps the youngest in the family to explore animal tracks and plants.
Free digital plant guide
Remember to bring your mobile phone with you when you visit the Greenhouses. Now you can download the Greenhouses' new plant guide with stories about plants from the houses. The plant guide must meet an ever-increasing demand from visitors who want information and good stories about the plants.
The plant guide is part of a larger app called Useeum. There are about 150 plants in the plant guide right now, but more stories are coming up all the time. An English language version is also on the stairs. You can find the Plant Guide by searching for Useeum in the App Store or Google Play.
Botanical Garden
Outside in the Botanical Garden you can experience typical Danish landscape types such as heath and beach and at the same time be inspired to go out into the 'real' nature in Aarhus.
Enjoy a light lunch in the café
In Væksthusenes café, a lovely oasis has been created, a green breathing space in the city center, where you can enjoy light lunch dishes and lovely cakes.
There is free admission for everyone in the Greenhouses.
