Jelshøj

Distance: 10.92 Km

Lace up your hiking boots and experience a magnificent view from Aarhus' highest point. With its 128 meters above sea level, you get a beautiful view of the city from the top of Jelshøj. In clear weather you can also see across the water to Samsø, Tunø and Mols.

Get easily to the area with the Light Rail

Start your trip on Aarhus H by getting on the Light Rail towards Odder, and get off at Nørrevænget Station. From here you can walk the rest of the way to Jelshøj hill.

A beautiful nature experience

The actual trip up to Jelshøj is a beautiful nature experience in itself. On your way you can see beautiful fields, horses and fruit trees. The area also has a rich bird and plant life, and a little further you will find a small forest. When you arrive, you can get a well-deserved rest at the set up tables and benches.

Burial mound from the Bronze Age

Jelshøj is an old large mound. It has not been excavated, so no one knows exactly what lies beneath the archaeological monument. According to old stories, there were supposed to be three kings buried in the mound. You can read more about the burial mound here.
