GENDER on the agenda

GENDER - Gender Museum Denmark was founded more than 30 years ago and was known as the Women's Museum in Denmark, where women's culture and history were strongly under-examined. A lot has happened since then in the relationship between the sexes. Men's roles and function in society have also changed significantly. The cultural heritage rests in places on old divisions between genders and roles, while the present expects freer expression of all genders. Therefore, the museum GENDER deals with gender culture in a broader perspective and involves everyone across genders.

Discover the cultural history of the sexes, dive into the history of sex education and become wiser about the importance of the sexes in society.

Come by KØN - Gender Museum Denmark and experience the permanent and changing exhibitions that are guaranteed to give you something to think about. Also enjoy a delicious cup of coffee in the cozy Women's Museum museum cafe.

The story of the girls and boys

Take the children on a treasure hunt in the exhibition 'The history of girls and boys', which conveys the cultural history of childhood through the last 150 years. Follow 28 children in their work, school and leisure. Here you can climb the showcases, draw on the walls and dress up as a child in the old days.
