The history of girls and boys is a permanent exhibition at KØN - Gender Museum Denmark in Aarhus. Here you can meet a child just like yourself, but with a very different life. In the exhibition with childhood stories, you can discover a lot of exciting stories and dress up as children in the old days.

When great-grandfather was a boy

Bring your family along and learn together about what life was like in the time of your grandparents and great-grandparents. Check out your grandfather's taste in music and get the explanation of why your great-grandmother was only in the shower on Saturdays.

Exhibition at child height

The exhibition is based on a number of specific children's lives and deals with themes such as family, school, child labor and play as well as differences between girls and boys.

Follow the children around among their objects, and get a picture of what it has been like to be a child through time. Experience the great changes that have taken place with childhood in general and with expectations for girls and boys in particular, told to both children and adults.
