Skanseparken

Distance: 10.57 Km

Enjoy a cozy picnic in Skanseparken and experience one of the city's lovely parks. The park at Frederiksbjerg is an excellent place to bring the food basket and enjoy a good lunch or light meal.

Whether you are away with the family or your partner, the park is worth a visit. The area is today a favorite recreational area for the district's residents, and children can frolic freely on the park's playground.

Skanseparken is beautifully located on Frederiksbjerg, which is one of several bridge neighborhoods in Aarhus, and is bordered by Strandvejen, Svendborgvej, Marselisborg Allé and Heibergsgade. Aarhus is rich in parks, and you can get inspiration for one here park route through some of the city's other green areas.

The private mansion in the city

From the grass in the park, the castle-like and beautiful Skansepalæ in neo-baroque style can be seen. The building was originally built as a hotel in connection with the National Exhibition in 1909, but later became patrician apartments. To this day, the palace houses Aarhus citizens.

Old military defense violence

The name of the park originally refers to the fortification that the German general Wallenstein had built in 1626-27 during his looting in Jutland. When the park was laid out in 1901-02, the municipality used the excess land from the ramparts to build Sydhavnen.
