The memorial park

Marselisborg Memorial Park is a must-see excursion destination with beautiful gardens and cultural and historical elements. You can go for a walk, enjoy the peace in one of the garden rooms, experience blooming lushness, or exercise in the large outdoor fitness facility. There is also a good playground and an ice house, so you can cool off while sunbathing on the park's large grassy areas.

Borrow a free barbecue

Bring a blanket and have a picnic on the grass. Around the Memorial Park you will find several stationary ball grills, which can be used freely by all guests.

Worth a look

In Mindeparken there are many exciting and cozy areas that you can explore. In May and June, do not miss the beautiful cherry trees that bloom pink in the park's Cherry Orchard.

The story of Marselisborg Memorial Park

Marselisborg Memorial Park was inaugurated in 1925 as an approx. 15 hectare area sloping towards Aarhus Bay and with a view of Skødshoved and Mols. To the south and north, the area was bounded by old beech forest and other vegetation.

In the park, lots were planted with many different trees and shrubs. It was originally the idea that the park should be a gathering place for foreign Danes when they were visiting their home country. However, this plan did not really gain a foothold, partly because the Rebild parties at Rold Skov received so much support.

Memorial to the First World War

If you enter the memory monument, you enter a large circular space. On the walls of the monument are engraved the names of the 4.144 southern Jews who, as Danes, had to fight in German uniforms, and subsequently fell in the First World War.

Close to Marselisborg Castle

As an extension to Marselisborg Memorial Park, you will find Marselisborg Castle, which contains a long and exciting history. The park is one among many beautiful parks in Aarhus.
