Borum Eshøj

Distance: 5.96 Km

Borum Eshøj is one of Denmark's largest Bronze Age mounds. The mound is located on a wind-swept ridge north-west of Aarhus. Today, only a small part remains, but it was once one of Denmark's largest Bronze Age mounds.

Excavation at Borum Eshøj

On the Eshøj plateau, which is 4km2 in size, there was originally a larger burial ground from the Bronze and Iron Ages, which included more than 40 burial mounds. Some of them are still visible, but heavily plowed down. Borum Eshøj was excavated in 1875 and contained three oak coffin graves with exceptionally well-preserved bodies of two men and a woman, which are today exhibited at Moesgard Museum.
