The Ole Rømer Observatory has undergone a major restoration in recent years, and you can now see the result in the beautiful area Kongelunden in Aarhus, close to Jydsk Vøddeløpsbane and Marselisborg Castle.

With the Ole Rømer Observatory, Aarhus now has a completely new area, a Science Park, where you can experience getting up close to natural science both during the day and in the dark under the starry sky.

New telescope

Aarhus now has the largest operating one telescope in Denmark. The diameter of the mirror is crucial, as a larger mirror collects more light than a smaller one. This corresponds to observing the night sky with an eye of 70 cm, and the telescope thus becomes the largest working telescope in Denmark.

Star shows

See the starry sky through Denmark's largest operating telescope at the Ole Røber Observatory in Aarhus. Here you can have a look at distant stars and planets in the observatory's telescope or hear about astronomy in the 112-year-old building - depending on the weather.

Through the observatory's telescope, you can have a look at the seasonal starry sky with the stars and planets that can be seen on the evening of the show. Perhaps there is a closer look at the craters of the Moon, zoomed in on the rings of Saturn, spotting a distant galaxy, or the trip goes outside to take a closer look at a constellation.

Remember to book a ticket in advance.

The architecture

The Ole Rømer Observatory is located in the southern part of Aarhus, close to Marselisborg Castle. It was inaugurated in 1911, built by Aarhus Municipality and designed by architect Anton Rosen and has been rebuilt several times. Today the Observatory is protected.
