ARoS is the main art museum in Aarhus and a unique international house of images and experiences for people of all ages. The museum's great commitment has resulted in the award of two Michelin stars in the Michelin tourism guide.
One of the most visited art museums in Scandinavia
ARoS is among Northern Europe's largest art museums and at the same time one of the most visited in Scandinavia. In each gallery, ARoS presents art from the museum's collection or by national and international artists such as Grayson Perry, Robert Mapplethorpe, Joana Vasconcelos, Bill Viola, Olafur Eliasson, Paul McCarthy, Shirin Neshat, Lucian Freud and Francis Bacon.
Your rainbow panorama
At the top of ARoS you will find Your rainbow panorama - a rainbow and a spectacular work of art by the Danish/Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson. Your rainbow panorama stands as a beautiful landmark for Aarhus, and when you walk around the circular 150 meter long and three meter wide rainbow made of glass, you get a unique view over the city. Don't cheat yourself for this trip - and certainly not after dark, when you can see the city's many lights through the brightly colored glass from above.
Current exhibitions
ARoS has many exhibitions and activities all year round, and you can follow along in the current exhibitions here or take a look below under "Maybe also interesting for you". Here we have gathered information about parking as well as selected exhibitions and events at ARoS.
ARoS Café and Orangery
Enjoy a nice dinner in ARoS Café and Orangery. In the museum's orangery you can enjoy coffee, tea, delicious snacks and light dishes in pleasant surroundings. After 17.00 you can eat a delicious evening meal from the week's menu.
ARoS expands with "The Next Level"
ARoS will expand next year with a new underground gallery The Next Level as well as the new masterpiece The Dome by the American James Turell.
The Next Level consists of several elements, where James Turrel's The Dome, a giant diamond of 40 meters, gives you a look out into the infinite sky.
NOTE: This means that in the coming years there will only be access to the museum from the entrance at Aros Allé.
The museum is open on Mondays in June, July and August.
FREE ACCESS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE UNDER 18 YEARS OLD
